Overview |
This is a long easy section but there is accommodation en-route so it could be made shorter. The stage heads into woodland above the Aujon Valley giving good views back to Clairvaux before descending into Cirfontaines-en-Azois. From there follow minor roads and one brief section of the D65, be careful. There are no shops along the stage but a there is a cafe serving meals and drinks at Bricon ( if it’s open )just before the route leaves the main road.
The “Official Route” does path through Chateauvillian but involves more climbing. Refer to the vsrious guide books if prefering to take this option. |
1 - From the the Hotel de l’Abbaye cross over the D12 and follow the road signed Longchamps-sur-Aujon. Where the road turns left continue ahead up the track, ignore the 2 tracks on the right but continue to reach the D12 and the village of Cirfontaines-en-Azois.
2 - Turn right on the D12 signed Maranville which then becomes the D6 to reach the village of Cirfontaines-en-Azois. In the village pass the church and then turn left Rue de La Fontaine aux Chenes. Continue straight ahead at the crossroads to pass the Lavoire (wash house) and then reach a T-junction. Turn right direction Aizanville 1km, Circuits of Lavoires. In Aizanville continue straight ahead along Rue de l’eglise, and then pass through the village to reach Ogres. In Ogres follow the road to bear left along Rue de la Forge, then straight ahead and out at the other side to continue on the D105.
3 - At the T-junction with the main road turn left on the D65 to Bricon, busy road take care. In Bricon take the 1st right on the D102 for about 3km to pass through Blessonville. Continue on the D102 for a further 4.5km to Richebourg. At the crossroads in Richebourg cross over to continue on the D102 direction for 8km to reach Mormant. Where the road bears left continue ahead into the village.
